This card is about fixation—when fear becomes form, and what we cling to begins to consume us. Obsession looms large, feeding on our silence and hiding in our patterns.

The figure below is frozen, locked in the grip of something immense. Above them hovers the shape of obsession—a skull-like presence with glowing eyes. Eyes created by fear. Eyes that see everything, except the truth. And yet… on the figure’s forehead rests a golden scarab, holding a red jewel. Power. Transformation. A forgotten truth. There is also a crown—not royal, but a symbol of potential that’s been cast aside.

This card asks: Why does this hold you so tightly? Often, what we fear to lose is something we’ve given our power to. A belief. A person. A coping mechanism. Obsession feeds on the parts we aren’t ready to release.

But the monster is not separate from us. It was made by us. And that means it can be unmade. Obsession is not your enemy. It is your mirror. Look long enough—and you’ll see what’s ready to be cut loose.
